Mike Canfield, principal analyst at Ovum, told vnunet.com: "It's been a big problem for them.AT&T was several steps removed from the customer.By dealing direct it's effectively having to re-kick start its business."
Rather than build out its own infrastructure, AT&T said that it will buy capacity wholesale, keeping its investments for network edge equipment.

A big brand name like AT&T gives it the opportunity to present itself as a second supplier," said Canfield.

But Canfield dismissed worries over AT&T."I don't think there's any chance of AT&T going under," he said.
