   r>Len Canfield began his career in communications as a reporter and editor with the Halifax Chronicle-Herald while attending university.He has worked as a communications officer/director with a number of provincial and federal government departments and agencies, including the Nova Scotia Communications and Information Centre, Nova Scotia Community College, Supply and Services Canada, Agriculture Canada and Department of National Defence (Maritime Command HQ).In the last several years he has ‘fitted into' semi-retirement mode as a PR consultant and freelance writer/editor while increasing his volunteer commitments.His ‘second career' involved 26 years service in the Naval Reserve and the Canadian Forces Primary Reserve as a public affairs officer.He is a graduate of St Mary's University (BA, DJ) and Dalhousie University (B.Ed, M.Ed).Len is a long-time accredited member of the Canadian Public Relations Society, served on the National Accreditation Council, past president of the former Atlantic Public Relations Society and has lectured in PR.He is also a member/director of several service support and community organizations, including the Royal United Services Institute of Nova Scotia, Canadian Naval Memorial Trust/HMCS Sackville and Walter Callow Bus.And, on occasion, he supports friends running for elected office.
