...
Not so for the Felicia and Brady Canfield.
...
Brady captured the gold with identical runs of 55.55 for a total time of 1:51.10.Both husband and wife came from second place after their first runs to take first. In fact, Brady's competitive fire was ignited after he learned of his wife's win.
Brady and Felicia Canfield became the first husband and wife duo ever to win gold at an Americas Cup race on the same day in Lake Placid last month.

No holding back," said Brady.
The Canfields have been together for almost 19 years. They met at Northern Arizona University. The two originally spotted each other when Felicia saw Brady in a dormitory lobby while she was warming up for a dance performance.Brady was cleaning up after a party and spilled a half-empty keg of beer down in his back.Needless to say, he did not use this opportunity to meet the young co-ed.Later they both participated on the school's cheer squad and Brady began to attend Felicia's dance performances.
"I guess they'd call it stalking now," joked Brady.
Eventually, the two became serious and were married. The first stop as newlyweds was in Syracuse, N.Y., where Brady was stationed as a member of the U.S. Air Force.

Brady began sliding with Gorski and it soon became a recreational hobby for him.

When the couple relocated to Florida, Brady continued to make weekend trips to New York to slide.
In 1998-99, Brady's sliding career took a big turn. After moving to Utah with the military, he went from being a "weekend-warrior" slider to a competitive luge athlete, and made the national team.
At the same time, Felicia decided to attend law school at the University of Utah and helped Brady by traveling to the track and taking pictures and lending moral support.

Brady competed on the World Cup tour from 1999-2004 and the America's Cup this last year.In her first year competing, Felicia raced with Brady on the America's tour in 2002-03.
...
Brady, who works as a physicist for the Air Force, was able to stay with the children this winter, because all of his races were within the borders of the United States, while Felicia traveled in Europe.
...
Brady used this winter's racing season as an opportunity to test and tweak his equipment. He and Olympic-medallist Jimmy Shea both decided that they needed a break from the rigors of the World Cup tour and slid with the America's Cup instead.During this time Brady tested a new sled, tried different grips and focused on increasing his push at the top of the track.
Both Canfields are trying to make the World Cup team this year.Athletes must be on the World Tour in order to qualify for the Olympic team, which takes the tour's top three sliders.
"It will be very intense. It will be who can keep the intensity and passion for the longest amount of time," said Brady.
...
We don't want to lose focus," said Brady.
There are some things the two can share in the sport. At their gold medal America's Cup race they prepared as a couple.
"On the positive side, we work well together. We studied the track together studied lines-and I hope we can continue to work together this way," said Brady.

Brady describes himself as being the "cat-like" one of the duo.He is calm, yet focused on the track and in life.
