Millie Canessa is a busy woman. She began working at the age of 15, spending 24 years in the private sector before beginning a second career with the provincial government. As a member of BCGEU, she became involved in union activities, serving at many levels, taking part in regional and national conferences and attending Harrison Winter School. She received a lifetime membership in BCGEU in 1987 and is also a lifetime member of the BCG Retired Employees' Association.
Millie is a grandmother, mother, wife, and active member of the community, involved with a number of organizations, including the BC Old Age Pensioner's Organization, the Vancouver Pioneer's Association and the New Democratic Party, to name a few.
