A nationally recognized expert with thirty years of experience in the field of energy economics, Dr. Canes joined LMI in 2000 after a distinguished career as vice president and chief economist of the American Petroleum Institute. At API, Dr. Canes was responsible for providing support for efforts to deal with legislative and regulatory issues such as price and allocation controls, environmental requirements, and fuels-related mandates. Before API, he taught at the Graduate School of Management at the University of Rochester, and he was an economist at the Center for Naval Analyses in Arlington, VA, where he worked on issues involving defense of fleets at sea and contractor default.
At LMI, Dr. Canes has conducted a number of energy and environmental analyses and published studies for a variety of clients.
