    MENOMONIE -- Mildred Louise Cance, 82, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at her sons home in Menomonie.

    She was born July 10, 1920, in the town of Goetz, near Cadott, the daughter of Morris and Helen (Solberg) Christianson. She grew up in the town of Goetz and surrounding areas, attending the Finn School in Taylor and Ellingson School in Northfield. She was confirmed Oct. 21, 1943, at the Northfield Lutheran Church.

    Mildred and her husband Alex resided in the rural Stanley area and farmed until retiring in 1979 and moving into Stanley.

    She will always be remembered as a very loving and giving mother and grandmother who always put others needs above her own. She always welcomed our friends as her friends and accepted our friends as good friends and welcomed them into our home.

    Mildred was a very active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Stanley, a member of the Stanley Area Historical Society, was active with 4-H activities, and loved sewing, quilting, crocheting, and gardening and was known for her beautiful violets she grew and the delicious apple pies she made.

    She is survived by: her children, Duane (Carol) Cance of Fall Creek, Carole (Fred) Roberts of Stewartville, Minn., Richard (Jean) Cance of Boyd and Kenneth (Darlene) Cance of Menomonie; grandchildren, Daniel (Arlene) Roberts, Rebecca (Gary) Manske, Susan (Anthony) Bauer, Steven (Tara) Cance, Aaron (Kathryn) Cance, Adam, Jessica, Jon, Alexander and Andrew Cance; great-grandchildren, Ashley Hohman, Austin Cance, Tyler and Melanie Bauer, Heather, Nicole and Andrew Manske, Amanda and Victoria Roberts; sisters, Laura Waller of Hixton, Mable Hanson of Pigeon Falls and Esther (Gib) Mathison of Stanley.

    She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Alex in 2001; brothers, Clifford, Harry, Lloyd, Melvin and Herman; and one sister, Myrtle.

    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Stanley, with Pastor William Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Stanley.

    Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Plombon Funeral Home, Stanley.
