   Debbbie Canby earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Michigan and practiced critical care and emergency room nursing at various hospitals in Michigan and Texas. After leaving clinical nursing, her career led her to healthcare computing which was in its infancy. Her roles included the installation of hospital software, sales and marketing, and consulting. She later became the Director of Clinical Computing at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School where her main focus was to create an electronic medical record for the campus.
