Claire Canavan
Claire is a multi-faceted theater artist who is passionate about teaching, writing, performing, and the power of creative drama. She has taught drama with fifth and second graders and at the national High School Institute at Northwestern University where she was a faculty associate. There she assistant taught acting and movement and taught classes in performance writing which focused on creating original performance pieces from students' writing. She has a degree in theater from Northwestern University, and while studying there she performed, worked as a storyteller, wrote and directed an original play based on nonfiction sources called Wearing Thin, and had her short stories published in a literary magazine. Claire loves to integrate writing and art into her drama workshops, and is excited about the possibilities of using drama in the classroom to deepen the study of curriculum and to inspire creativity and imagination with young artists.
