I interviewed Dr. Roger T. Canard, D.C. who has been practicing chiropractic medicine since 1970.He has provided direct care and performed hundreds of peer reviews and is a member of the Texas Chiropractic Association and has served as President of the Dallas County Chiropractic Society. His professional affiliations include: Diplomat American Academy of Pain Management, Fellow of the American Back Society, Member Scientific Council on Neurovascular Examination and Diagnosis, and TWCC Designated Doctor.
Dr. Canard has the following to say about chiropractic costs and red flags indicating the need for a peer review:

Dr. Canard says it is legal for a chiropractor to do so, however that chiropractic doctor must spend at least 30 minutes one on one with the patient at each visit and it is preferable that a certified occupational therapist or physical therapist be part of the program.
Functional Capacity Evaluations in Dr. Canard's opinion are highly subjective and he finds it difficult to place much weight on them.

Dr. Canard has been in practice many decades and has yet to see a case that requires MUA.
