   FALFURRIAS - Mrs. Estella M. Canales , 88 , passed away Thursday , October 14 , 1999 in San Antonio , Texas. Her husband was the late Adolfo G. Canales. Both were life-long residents of Falfurrias , Texas. She is survived by two sons , Adolfo R. Canales and wife Ileana ; Charles Canales and wife Leslie ; six grandchildren : Robert and wife Dulcie , John , Roxana , James , Robert Martin and Gianna , all of San Antonio and sister Gloria Garza of Falfurrias.

   Estella M. Canales served the students of Brooks County Independent District for a period of 42 years , both as teacher and as an Elementary School Principal. She was a member of a committee of two who complied a course of study for Teaching English to Non-English Speaking Children ( beginners ) in the Brooks County I.S.D. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International and Alpha Lamba Delta at the University of Texas and Alpha Chi at Texas A& ; I University. Mrs. Canales was also a member of the Texas State Teachers Association ; Elementary Supervisors Association and the Texas Library Association. Estella M. Canales also dedicated herself to work in the Falfurrias community and has served as a Member of the Ed Rachel Memorial Library Advisory Board ; the Brooks County Hospital Auxiliary and the Nona Hill Student Loan Fund. Rosary will be held at 7 : 00 p.m. Sunday October 17 , 1999 at Howard-Williams-Funeral Home , Falfurrias , Texas. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 : 00 a.m. Monday October 18 , 1999 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church , Falfurrias , Texas. Interment will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
