   Dr. Canafax has served as our vice president and chief development officer since February 2007. Dr. Canafax has overall responsibility for the development of our pipeline of products from preclinical development through clinical trials. From July 2002 to February 2007, Dr. Canafax served as vice president of clinical development at XenoPort, Inc. From June 2001 to July 2002, Dr. Canafax acted as director and medical monitor at MedImmune, Inc., a pharmaceutical company. Dr. Canafax received his B. Pharm. degree from Washington State University and his Pharm.D. degree from the University of Kentucky.

   Daniel M. Canafax, Pharm.D. Vice President & Chief Development Officer Daniel M. Canafax joined ARYx in 2007 as vice president and chief development officer and is responsible for the development of the company's pipeline of products from preclinical development through clinical trials. Prior to joining ARYx, Dr. Canafax served as vice president of clinical development at XenoPort from 2002 to 2007. Between 2001 to 2002, Dr. Canafax acted as director and medical monitor at MedImmune, Inc. Previous to that, he served as director of clinical affairs at Elan Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from 2000 to 2001. Dr. Canafax served as vice president of clinical research for Ischemia Research and Education Foundation from 1999 to 2000, and from 1997 to 2000, he was executive director and vice president of clinical research at SangStat Medical Corporation.
   
   Dr. Canafax was a faculty member at the University of Minnesota, including Professor of Pharmacy, Surgery and Otolaryngology and director of a Clinical Trials Office and Drug Analysis Laboratory from 1978 to 1997. Dr. Canafax received his B. Pharm. degree from Washington State University and his Pharm.D. degree from the University of Kentucky.
