LANSING, MI. - Alan L. Canady has joined the Lansing office of Clark Hill PLC, as a member of the Government Policy and Practice Group, CEO John Hern announced.

Canady joined government in 1987 as an attorney and policy analyst for the Michigan State Senate in the areas of local government and taxation.He was appointed Senate Democratic Counsel in 1989, where he served as the chief legal counsel and parliamentarian for the Senate Democratic Caucus.He advised the caucus on all legal matters as well as Senate Rules, parliamentary procedure, campaign finance and election law.He also represented the Democratic Caucus during redistricting litigation before the Michigan Supreme Court in 1992.In 1998, Canady was given the title of Deputy Chief of Staff by then Senate Democratic Leader John Cherry.
Prior to working in the government, Canady was in private practice in Lansing, specializing in litigation within State and Federal Courts.
Canady earned his B.A. from the University of Michigan, and his J.D. from George Washington University.He resides in East Lansing, MI.
