First and foremost , we are here to care for and protect this community , said Paula Camposano-Robinson , executive director of the Marco Healthcare Center.
But we must also be responsible in protecting our staff and their families , as well as our facilities in the event of a dangerous weather situation.
We will provide necessary health care services until we are told to evacuate by the Collier County Emergency Management staff or NCH executive staff. We trust that everyone on Marco Island will heed the evacuation order..
Camposano-Robinson added that if islanders do not evacuate , police officers , fire department personnel , sheriff's deputies , emergency medical staff , or any other service assistance groups may not be available to respond to residents' needs. Camposano- Robinson said the policy is very specific and leaves little room for uncertainty.
A detailed checklist with specific responsibilities has been developed that assigns tasks to certain personnel , she said. The purpose of this plan is to help ensure that everyone , from our employees to residents and other emergency personnel , knows exactly what will happen at the Center prior to , during and after hurricanes , she said. We want this community to know our hurricane policy to help minimize the confusion that can accompany dangerous weather..
For more information about hurricane preparedness , pick up a free copy of the Barrier Island Hurricane Preparedness Manual prepared by the Marco Island Civic Association or the All Hazards Handbook , Collier County Emergency Management , 2001 Edition , which are available at several locations throughout the community.

It will, said Paula Camposano-Robinson, be the only business of its kind in Southwest Florida.
Essentially, she said, the facility will promote health and provide assorted types of rehabilitation â€" both emotional and physical.
A registered nurse and former clinical director at the Marco Healthcare Center, Camposano-Robinson said the aim is to enhance the lifestyles of older people.
"My 28 years of nursing experience has enabled me to understand the needs of mature adults, and the issues they face, as well as the needs of families or individuals who may be caregivers," she said.
