BIOGRAPHY OF COACH LANA CAMPOS
Lana Campos was born and raised in San Antonio , Texas. She began playing volleyball , soccer , basketball , and softball at the age of seven. Her family moved to Irving in February of 1991. She soon discovered Metroplex Juniors where she played club volleyball two years prior to high school. Although softball was a very important part of her life , she decided that volleyball was her first priority. Lana was a three-time letter winner in both sports and three-time First Team All-District in volleyball at Irving High School. From 1994-1996 , Lana also received Best Newcomer , Best Offensive Player , and Most Valuable Player of the district. Her senior year was capped off with First Team All-Area Dallas Morning News and Fort Worth Star Telegram , and First Team All-State.
Dallas Summit and Mid Cities were the two clubs she split time with during high school. Her teams qualified for nationals all four years.
Lana was an officer in Student Council and very active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She decided to attend Nicholls State University where she was a two-year starter. In 1997 , Nicholls finished second in the Southland Conference Tournament and missed a bye to the National Tournament by a match. During her junior year , God led her to Dallas Baptist University , where her team made it to regionals but lost in the first round. She received First Team All-Region and Honorable Mention All-American. She is currently engaged to be married to her wonderful fiancé and co-coach , Ryan Mitchell. She is a senior at DBU studying Communication Theory and is still involved in FCA.
Her collegiate career just ended in November , but she hopes to continue coaching and playing as long as the Lord allows.
