   Laura is a native of Clintwood, Virginia in the heart of the Appalachian mountains. She received her undergraduate degree from The University of Virginia's College at Wise, where she studied political science and history. Laura received her law degree from St. John's University in New York City. In law school she served as an editor of The New York Litigator law journal and was the recipient of an academic scholarship.
