    Amtrak Names William H. Campbell as Chief Financial Officer May 1, 2007

    Amtrak has announced the appointment of William H. Campbell as the corporation¹s Chief Financial Officer.He will be based at the railroad¹s headquarters in Washington, DC.He will join Amtrak on May 21, 2007.

    Mr. Campbell comes to Amtrak with more than 20 years experience as a CFO.He was the CFO for the Department of Veterans Affairs, the second largest cabinet agency, managing a $65 billion annual budget.He also served as Chief Engineer and Deputy Commander for the Naval Supply Systems Command, and served for nine years as the CFO for the United States Coast Guard.Most recently, Campbell served as a Director in the Federal CFO Advisory Services practice at KPMG LLP in Washington, DC.

    In his role as Amtrak CFO, Campbell will be responsible for planning, directing and overseeing all financial activities of the corporation, including effective fiscal monitoring, financial systems upgrades, and budget planning and analysis.He will report directly to Amtrak President Alex Kummant and will supervise an executive staff including Amtrak¹s treasurer, Assistant Vice President of Financial Planning, Assistant Vice President of Financial Analysis, and Controller.

    Campbell received a B.S. in Marine and Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, a Diploma in Resource Management from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, and an M.S. in Technical Management from Johns Hopkins University.

    William Campbell

    William H. Campbell serves as Assistant Secretary for Management and Chief Financial Officer of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

    In that position, Mr. Campbell is responsible for planning, managing, coordinating and overseeing all financial, budgetary, acquisition and logistics policies, systems and operations for the federal government's second largest agency with an annual budget of more than $59 billion and more than 223,000 employees.

    Mr. Campbell previously served as VA's Deputy Assistant Secretary for Finance and Deputy Chief Financial Officer since October 2000.

    Prior to joining VA, Mr. Campbell was Chief Financial Officer for the Coast Guard.Under his leadership, the Coast Guard became the first armed service to receive an unqualified, or "clean," financial audit opinion from the Government Accounting Office in 1999.

    Mr. Campbell holds a master's degree in technical management from Johns Hopkins University, a diploma in resource management from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, and a bachelor's degree in marine and electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

    A member of the Senior Executive Service since 1985, Mr. Campbell is a recipient of the Presidential Senior Executive Service Distinguished Rank Award.
