Tony CampbellAnthony (Tony) Campbell is the President of Campbell Intel Services Inc., a strategic analysis, publishing and executive development consultancy with offices in Brockville, Ontario and Nanaimo, British Columbia.Born in Chile in 1944 and brought up in Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto, Mr. Campbell studied political science, economics and history at Queens University, Kingston, Ontario and two years of law at the University of Toronto.He entered Canada's diplomatic service in 1967 and served in Guyana, Spain and Morocco.He later represented Canada on the OECD's Environment Committee and NATO's Committee on the Challenges of Modern Society.
In his 34 year career in Canada's Public Service, he held increasingly senior positions in nine departments and agencies as a policy advisor, international negotiator, regulatory policy expert, educator in leadership and management, and as a manager of foreign intelligence analysis.He was Canada's lead international negotiator in the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (1979-1982), Assistant Deputy Minister for Regulatory Affairs (1986-1989), Acting Deputy Minister for Privatization and Regulatory Affairs (1989-1990), Vice Principal of the Canadian Centre for Management Development (1990-1993), and Executive Director of the Intelligence Assessment Secretariat in the Privy Council Office (1993-2000).
Mr. Campbell was appointed Senior Visiting Fellow at the Centre for International Studies and tutor in intelligence history at Cambridge University (UK) in 2000-2001, Adjunct Professor in the School of Public Administration, Univeristy of Victoria (specializing in change management), and Senior Fellow, Centre for Security and Defence Studies of the Patterson School of International Affairs, Carleton University.He has lectured at 16 universities in Canada, the USA, UK, Mexico, Italy and Portugal.He gave the 2002 Sherman Kent Memorial Lecture at the United States National Defence University.He is President of the Canadian Association for Security and Intelligence Studies. -
