Samples of projects from several sites , including a notebook from Footprints in the Sand , were included in recent presentations in Washington DC before the National Council for the Arts and a Department of Education briefing at the White House by Tony Campbell , Executive Director of America's Promise. The Department of Education has asked for Houston to provide more of our projects for a Mars Millennium display in their office lobby.
The Houston Children's Museum has opened an exhibit showcasing all projects created over the summer ; this exhibit will run through September 12. An event honoring the students and the new Martian community they created will be held at the Children's Museum on Thursday , August 19 , at 6 : 30 pm. -

Reverend Tony Campbell, executive director of community mobilization for America's Promise, will be the keynote speaker. A reception will follow his presentation.
As executive director for America's Promise, Rev. Campbell chaired the delegation attending the President Clinton's Summit on Volunteerism in 1997.
A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and Yale School of Divinity, Campbell was formerly rector of St. James Episcopal Church in Houston, the largest Episcopal African American parish in the State of Texas.
While in Houston, Rev. Campbell chaired the Joint Commission on Children and created an after school program serving over 200 schools. He also chaired Houston's Promise, which served over 400,000 children through a collaborative community effort.
Reverend Campbell served as Canon Missioner for the Diocese of South Carolina, responsible for 75 Episcopal churches in the state, and developed the first midnight basketball program in Charleston.
Baskervill Ministries, his former church in South Carolina, was home to Camp Summer Step, named one of the 100 best programs for children by the National Dropout Prevention Center. Under his leadership, Basekervill was also named the 613th Point of Light by President Bush and received the Governor's award as the outstanding human service organization in the state.
