The seven retiring administrators in New Haven this year were music supervisor Regina Warner, instruction director Miriam Camacho, Clarence Rogers School principal Kathy Jones, dropout prevention supervisor Steve Lindner, Edgewood School assistant principal Ed Burns, Hillhouse High School Assistant Principal Ed Bucciero and Urban Youth Center principal Milton Brown.

The announcement was made at Strong School, 69 Grand Avenue, in the City, with the Mayor being joined by the school's students and Principal Miriam Camacho.

This final fuel conversion of the bus fleet was made possible through funding from the Environmental Protection Agency - $75,000 being spent on ULSD.

The Super Teacher of the Month campaign was developed by Jaclyn Marchitto, Mary Derwin, Carolyn Streets, Myrna Montalvo and David Cicarella of the New Haven Federation of Teachers in partnership with district administrators Catherine Sullivan-DeCarlo, Miriam Camacho and Andrea Lobo-Wadley.

In a letter sent home from school, Principal Miriam Camacho assured parents that "at no time were the children in the school in any danger" and explained what happened.

At dismissal, she mingled with parents waiting for their children.

"You have to be proud of your children today," Camacho said.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Reginald Mayo thanked Miriam Camacho, Director of Instruction, for helping arrange the pilot program in the three schools.

In Strong alone, there are at least seven severe cases of chronic asthma where children have been hospitalized, principal Miriam Camacho said.She said the asthma detracts from the students' education and their attendance is severely affected.
