    Dr. Calman is a leader and innovator in medical and surgical eye care.He introduced no-stitch, no-patch, no-injection cataract surgery to the area in 1994, and is a pioneer in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic techniques for cataract surgery, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy.Dr. Calman, his colleagues and staff are proud to offer the most modern eye care in an atmosphere of old-fashioned friendliness and caring.Dr. Calman is a member of the UCSF clinical faculty, where he is helping to train the next generation of eye surgeons in the latest techniques.He is Asst. Vice President of the California Academy of Ophthalmology, Associate Examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology, and Medical Expert in Ophthalmology for the Medical Board of California.He has served as President of Pacific Eye Physicians, the Bay Area's largest ophthalmology IPA; Chief of Ophthalmology at St. Luke's Hospital; and Vice President of the California Academy of Ophthalmology, as well as many other charitable and administration positions.Dr. Calman speaks seven languages including Spanish, Tagalog, French and Italian.He and his wife Sandra, a Family Practitioner, have six children, ages 2 to 18 years, a German Shepherd , a miniature horse and a miniature donkey.
