    Venture Wales project manager Greg Byrne said the response from potential occupiers interested in the combination of facilities and easy-in easy-out terms being offered at the centre had already been extremely encouraging.

    "Even before starting on site we have already secured enquiries for available space. This serves as a valid reminder of the value of providing public funding to ensure that buildings of this kind are developed in the Valleys," Mr Byrne said.

    Gregory Byrne is an accoumplished manager with nearly 20 years of economic development expertise and experience, gained at the most senior levels of public sector management, and consultancy in Wales.He is a former Director of Economic Development of Wales' largest local authority..A graduate of the University of Wales, Swansea, and of Cardiff Business School, he is a Chartered Civil Engineer, with both academic and professional qualifications in general management and marketing.During his career he has had direct experience, as part of Team Wales, of handling many manufacturing and service sector investment projects.He was a founder partner and Chairman for three years, of FSI (Wales), the highly successful WDA and partner funded financial services initiative established to attract business and financial services inward investment to Wales, and he also founded and was the first Chairman of, the Cardiff-Newport Call Centre Initiative, which attracted some 3,000 jobs in its first three years of operation.He also Chaired the Media and Marketing Group that prepared for Cardiff's hosting of the European Summit in 1998, and Rugby World Cup in 1999, building on the success of his earlier concept and promotion of Cardiff as an European capital city, including the development of an annual festival of business events.He was previously a member of the European Structural Funds monitoring committee that managed the ISW Objective 2 Programme for South Wales, and is currently a member of the Wales European Funding Office' Business Assets Strategic Partnership that manages the Objective 1 Programme for West Wales and the Valleys.He is an approved Management Consultant, for The Commonwealth Secretariat, London, and the Welsh Development Agency.
