   David Byerman, Chairman of the board of directors for the Nevada Association of Nonprofit Organizations (NANO), recently announced that NANO's focus for 2007 and beyond will be on legislative affairs. Byerman stated that "We believe there is a real need for the nonprofit sector to be represented in Carson City.

   David Byerman has a strong resume reflecting a wide range of abilities. Having grown up in Northern Nevada, he attained his graduate degree at the prestigious Fels Center of Government at the University of Pennsylvania. In Philadelphia, he managed an environmental non-profit for three years, building it into the well-respected winner of the "Governor's Award for Environmental Excellence" -- presented by Governor Tom Ridge in 1998.
   
   David then returned to Nevada, serving on the senior staff for Governor Bob Miller.

   There, David was the Governor's primary staff advisor on transportation, environmental, information technology, and military/veteran's issues. After the Governor's term concluded, David served as Chief Government Liaison for Nevada, one of the leaders of Nevada's Census 2000 campaign.
   
   More recently, David served as Director of Communications for Clean Fuels Technology. He also served as Chief of the Program Development Division for the Nevada Department of Transportation, and as Director of Program Development for EOB Community Action Partnership. He most recently provided turnaround management consulting as Interim Executive Director for Candlelighters for Childhood Cancer of Southern Nevada.
   
   As a volunteer, David has served his community in a wide variety of ways. He currently serves as Chairman of the State of Nevada's Advisory Committee on Participatory Democracy, and was recently appointed by Governor Kenny Guinn to the Advisory Committee on Natural Resources. He is a past president of the Sparks Chamber of Commerce and a past chairman of the Sparks Citizens Advisory Committee.
