Coach Denny Butcher is in his first season at Walled Lake Central and so far the transition has been smooth.The Vikings are 12-4, 8-2 heading into tonight's game at Plymouth.

Butcher spent the past five seasons at Ortonville Brandon, the last one as head coach.

"We got Boss into foul trouble early," Central coach Denny Butcher said.

WALLED LAKE -- Dennis Butcher is in just his second season as head coach at Walled Lake Central and already there are signs that a solid program has been established.

Last season Central finished second in the Lakes Division of the Western Lakes Association, then went on to win the league tournament, defeating Canton in the final.

The Vikings lost four starters to graduation, but that's not a concern for Butcher.He said his returning players were good last season, and that he has confidence that they will continue to perform at a high level.

"What's helped us is our summer program," he said.

According to Denny Butcher, Walled Lake Central head coach, Plymouth began to chip away at Central's lead by capitalizing on the Vikings turnovers and missed shots.

"We stress it (fundamentals) in practice," Central coach Denny Butcher said.

Butcher was pleased with how his team played against Brighton's changing defenses, including their half-court trap in the fourth quarter.

"We saw the play they ran on film, so we were prepared for it," said Central coach Dennis Butcher.
