Enhancing the observation skills of drivers is made more im-portant due to the lack of attention school buses are often given, said David Butcher, Riteway safety director.
"In America, no one is afraid of school buses. They can get in anywhere and go anywhere," Butcher said.
While a big threat isn't anticipated in the Slinger area, the company does take students on field trips to the State Capitol and into Chicago, Butcher said.
"The drivers now are aware of where to check for packages or where bombs might be placed, especially when they're attending high-profile events," he said.
The program is not just for counter terrorism, but focuses on all areas of safety, including child predators and unsafe road conditions, Butcher said.
