asked Christina Busso, director of alumni relations for the Louis August Jonas Foundation in Rhinebeck, a nonprofit that provides international scholarships for teenagers.
...
Busso agrees.
The foundation began using GoodSearch in February.
"It's been a very positive experience," she said."Since February, we've posted information about GoodSearch on our Web site, and our CEO and I are really hammering it into everyone we talk to.You can see the fluctuations. We receive more during the months we've been promoting it most actively.Every time we reach $100, they send a check."
So far, it's brought in about $100, Busso said.
In fact, results from GoodSearch have pleased her so much she's signed the foundation onto the iGive.com Web site and Amazon.com's Associates Program, both of which allow supporters to give to designated charities while shopping, another way for nonprofits to encourage donors to give without asking them to do anything outside their usual activities.
Comparing GoodSearch to other search engines, she said, "Overall, I get what I'm looking for."The youngest folks in our group, high school kids, are more computer savvy every year, and recently I heard two of them using 'goodsearching' as a verb, the way people use 'googling.' "
The GoodSearch Web site features a Charity of the Day, something Busso also likes.
