   "The day's events were very successful, with an excellent turn-out; the weather cooperated," said James Burton, spokesman for the Marathon Planning Committee. A total of $10,698 was collected in pledges and donations in addition to $12,000 in food sales and quilt raffle tickets, according to Burton. Also, 400 pounds of barbecue was prepared and over 400 gallons of stew was sold.
