   Liz Burton, director of Eastern Oregon University's Baker Center, is hoping to hear better budget news as the year progresses.

   That's good news for Liz Burton, who is in her 11th year as director of EOU's Baker Center. Burton is hoping that the past success of distance-education programs will speak for itself and keep the outreach programs intact as cuts are made.
   
   "We feel like we have a very, very key role in the success and growth of Eastern," Burton said.
