   This year's award was presented to Elaine Burton from Margaree Valley, Cape Breton. Elaine was a student at the NSCC - Strait Area Campus, enrolled in Academic Upgrading, Level 4. She had left school with a grade nine and has since completed two computer courses. She has also received certificates in Regional Industrial Training, National Sanitation Training and in Hospitality Upgrading.
   
   In 1995, Elaine enrolled in the Upgrading Program at the Stratlorne Learning Centre and graduated with her Level 4 this year. She has enrolled in a Multimedia Production Program at the Strait Area Campus since September of this year.
