   South Carolina Silversmiths was written thirty years ago by Charleston Museum Director E. Milby Burton as part of a series on the state's history published by the Museum.

   Mr. Burton served as Chairman of both the Historical Commission and the Art Commission of the City of Charleston, Vice-President of the South Carolina Historical Society, Chairman of the American Institute of Architecture's Committee to Safeguard Charleston Architecture and President of the Preservation Society of Charleston. In addition to writing South Carolina Silversmiths, Mr. Burton has written another book, Charleston Furniture. Articles of his appeared in the Antiques Magazine, the New York Times, William and Mary Quarterly and Scientific Monthly
