David J. Burton joined Reed Smith in 2000 after graduating from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Mr. Burton earned his J.D. magna cum laude and was selected to the Order of the Coif.While in law school, he served as Research Editor and Staff Member on the University of Pittsburgh Law Review.

Mr. Burton served as a Summer Associate at Reed Smith in 1999.During that time he researched issues in the areas of litigation, corporate law, intellectual property, and labor and employment law.He also drafted legal documents including research memoranda, responses to Trademark Office actions, motions and a brief.

In the Summer of 1998, Mr. Burton was a legal intern for the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission.He researched case law, drafted probable cause findings and Commission replies to motions, and investigated case files.

Mr. Burton earned his B.A. in Plan II Liberal Arts Honors from the University of Texas in 1996.He is admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar.
