  Because using photo reference is such an important part of being an artist (something I didn't know until I started learning from David - I always thought it was the artist's job to make stuff up from their head and the point was to not use photographs) many of my ideas are inspired by a good photo.

  Dave (the writer for Reality Experiment) had been wanting to launch a webcomic for a while.He and I worked together for a time at Circuit City, and he had talked about his idea for a comic.He went through a few artists (who kept abruptly vanishing on him), and the idea kind of went flat eventually.
  
  After a time, Dave, Patrick and I (all co-workers at that point) for some reason which I don't remember (though I think it had something to do with Final Fantasy XI) decided that there needed to be a video game night.

  It helps that Dave is a very gifted writer with a talent for comedic timing.

  My art teacher, David Burton, is also a great source of inspiration for me, and my little sister, whose stunning smile and truly amazing sense of the camera has been the subject of at least two drawings of mine, one of which is published alongside one of Zoe's stories. (I don't have the link right off-hand, but perhaps she'll be kind enough to post it in a comment.)

  DAVID BURTON is Managing Director of Native Voices at the Autry. He has been with the Autry since 1998. He has served as a Grant Writer and Foundation and Government Grants Manager. He is currently the Director of Government Affairs and Special Projects focusing on securing funds from various government sources through competitive grants and legislative appropriations and promoting the Autry National Center with elected officials and the community. In addition, David serves as contributing editor to Convergence magazine; collaborates on a variety of institutional communications; and has chaired the Exhibitions and Programs Committee where he continues as a voting member. David helped launch Native Voices at the Autry and has been a member of its executive committee since its inception. He is also the board chair for City Garage, a small theater company in Santa Monica specializing in contemporary European plays. David has a B.A. in history from UCLA and a Masters in English Literature/Creative Writing from SFSU.

  This is the second time Dave has applied to the charity for this role, though it is the first time he had been short-listed for an interview.
  
  "Apparently they just found someone who was better suited to the role", commented David, "Though it is a little disappointing, in some ways it is a breath of fresh air since I wasn't sure that it was the right path for me anyway"

  Dave Burton (aka Doive) was a little late for work this morning following a car accident en route.After turning onto King George V Drive he exited the first roundabout only to be met by a white van.
  
  "I don't remember going round the roundabout.All I remember is suddenly reaching for the brakes - The next thing I heard was that sickening crunch as the vehicles collided", commented Mr Burton.

  The car is been assessed at the garage and despite being a little shaken up Dave is ok.
