Chester R. Burton
Chester R. Burton , 85 , formerly of the Old Outlet Road in Caroga Lake , died at the Clare Bridge Manor of Clifton Park on Friday , May 11 , 2001. He had been residing at Clare Bridge Manor since May 2000.
He was born on July 4 , 1915 , in Stratford , the son of Harry and Alice Minter Burton , and he was a graduate of Dolgeville High School , class of 1931.
A veteran of World War II , he served with the U.S. Navy from April 1944 until he was honorably discharged in January 1946. He served with the U.S. Naval Task Group in France.
Chester was employed by the General Electric Co. of Schenectady for 35 years and retired in 1980.
He was a member of the Dolgeville Masonic Lodge No. 796 Free and Accepted Masons , and a member of the Quarter Century Club of General Electric.
Surviving him are his sons , Bruce Burton and his fiancee Millie Rowe of Amsterdam , Larry Burton and his wife , Pat , of Derrand , Ill. , Robert Burton and his wife , Judy , of Fishkill , and Richard Burton and Dedee of Amsterdam ; a daughter , Julie ; 12 grandchildren ; several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Roberts-Buck Funeral Home , 3 Faville Ave. , Dolgeville , with the Rev. Dr. Steven A. Scarcia of Emmanuel Episcopal Church of Little Falls officiating. Burial will take place at Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Little Falls at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Monday from 1 p.m. until the service.
