Outside the office he served 12 years as a County Planning Commissioner, eight years as Chairman of the local Board of Adjustments, and five years as President of one of the top ski race clubs in the United States.A true nature lover, he founded a local chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (a group of sportsmen devoted to preserving habitat for elk), and was the Chairman of the local chapter of Ducks Unlimited.He has also been a member of Rotary Club International.
