   Because there is no "payroll" to offer a gift-wrapping service, nonprofit agencies are given the opportunity to receive monetary donations from customers by manning a gift-wrapping table during the course of the holiday season, said Beverly Burton, Sears general manager. The program began Thanksgiving and ends Christmas Eve.
   
   "We provide boxes and wrapping, and every dollar they collect goes back to them," Burton said.
   
   A longtime supporter of the program is the United Way Food Bank, which raised $3,000 last year, Burton said. She said the money was used by the food bank to fund the Brown Bag Program, a food distribution service for senior citizens.

   "Business looks very good," said Sears store manager Beverly Burton. "We have been packed since 6:01."
   
   Burton said shoppers are buying a variety of items. "We're selling lots of electronics, DVDs, TVs of all sizes, telephones, and a lot of tools," she said. "Denim throughout the apparel departments, Christmas apparel and lots of fine jewelry is selling. We're really selling well on everything."
   
   Like many retailers, Sears has extended its store hours during the weekend.
   
   Burton said specials advertised on Thanksgiving Day are still good and shoppers are given an additional 10 percent off today from 7 a.m. to noon.
