Betty White Burton, 86, a former member of Woodland Beach Community Church in Edgewater and volunteer at Providence Center, an Anne Arundel County facility for developmentally disabled people, died of congestive heart failure June 10 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Cumberland, Md.
Mrs. Burton, a former Edgewater resident, spent the last 14 years living in Romney, W.Va.
She was a native Washingtonian and attended McKinley Technical High School. She left high school in her senior year to help her father at his photography studio. She taught piano for students in the D.C. school system in the 1950s.
She was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows women's auxiliary.
She was married to Claude C. Wilson, her second husband, for 45 years until his death in 1984.
