  Alice Burton's artistic endeavours began at an early age, well before the nursing training that she undertook at her mother's recommendation as a good ,back-up' to an artistic career.She graduated as a Registered Nurse from St. Michael's Hospital and received a Public Health Diploma from McGill University.Alice went on to a career in public health nursing with the City of Toronto.Also an active volunteer, Alice has been involved with the Alzheimer Society of Toronto for over ten years and during this time she served as Chair of Fundraising and spent two years as President of the Board of Directors.She has also served on the Boards of the Alzheimer Society of Ontario, Alzheimer Society of Canada and a Community Care Access Centre in Toronto.Alice is an Honours Fine Arts graduate of York University in Toronto where she majored in Painting and Drawing.Her work contains a strong emphasis on colour, texture, line and composition.

  Alice Burton is an Honours Fine Arts graduate of York University, Toronto, Canada.She majored in painting and drawing doing independent studies with Ronald Bloore and Claude Breeze.She studied printmaking with George Hawken at Humber College Toronto, composition at The Ontario College of Art and the Toronto School of Art, and colour and collage with Norman Laliberté.In 1998 she participated in a workshop with Eric Fischl and in 2000 with Susan Rothenberg both at Georgian College, Barrie, Ontario.

  Alice spent a total of two months in India in both 2000 and 2001.She travelled with a small group of people in the Arts and Social Services from North America.The tour organiser in India, Rashmi Misra, conducted a small group she called "Bridges to India."Rashmi lives in Mumbai and was the founder in India of a group called VIDYA, which started schools, literacy programs, and health clinics for poor children in both Delhi and Mumbai.Rashmi also had a great interest in the Arts and had studied Indian Classical Dance.
  
  "With her expert help we were able to learn not only about the History, Art and Culture of India but also to gain insight into the work being done by some generous and gifted individuals to assist in the multitude of social problems," says Alice.
  
  Alice travelled from Delhi to Mysore and the surrounding area to the hill country of the Western Ghats and then down to Kerala all by train and mini bus, and then up to Goa and Mumbai.
