   Alexander Burton, a 2001 graduate of Phillipsburg High School, was pronounced dead at 6:30 a.m. by the Warren County Medical Examiner's Office.

   An unidentified engineer for Norfolk Southern was en route from Newark to Allentown about 5:39 a.m. when he saw Burton lying across the railroad tracks. The engineer told police he tried to stop the train but was unsuccessful.
   
   It was unclear Sunday why Burton was on the tracks or if he were dead before the train struck him.
   ...
   Several neighbors in the 100 block of Filmore Street said they were unfamiliar with Burton.
   
   According to authorities, Burton was the fourth person struck by a train in the area since 1998.
