With chart success of her first release single "To Sir With Love", Nikki has proven that her talent does not stop at her good looks; she is proficient in her melodious sound.
Nicole Marcella Burt born February 16, 1974 in Port Antonio, Portland Jamaica started singing at the tender age of twelve while still at primary school and attending church. Nikki participated in a folk song group at school where they performed to an audience of her peers as part of the schools extra curriculum. Throughout her childhood she was greatly involved in her church and sang a solo song every Sunday to the congregation. After finishing her primary education Nikki went on to high school and became a member of a band called "Fresh" where she was the lead vocalist, for three years the band was extremely active, holding a resident position at the Fern Hill Club in Portland. There was no stopping this young budding artist, Nikki discovered that there was more opportunities for her on Jamaica's north coast thus Nikki set out to build her career. Taking up residency in Ocho Rios, Nikki was discovered by the famous Peter Fraser Band whom she worked with for several years as a resident band at the prestigious Mallards Beach Resort and the Sans Souci Hotel. During this period Nikki developed her stage presence and expanded her vocal talent.
In 1990 Nikki encountered the Fifth Extension Band, at which time they worked as a resident band at a large hotel in Negril. This band's leader was in fact Mikey Spice who invited Nikki to work with them that night and since then has maintained contact throughout. During the recording of Mikey Spice "Born Again" album Nikki was featured in the duet "Finally Made It" recorded for Bobby Digital on the Digital B label. This album is distributed by VP records. With a couple tracks on the Spice Rack CD, being distributed by Paras Group in Los Angeles, a song on King Jammys Label "Wonderful Love" which is poised to do extremely as a follow up to "If You Want My Loving" (which held the the No.3 position on choice FM music charts (London, UK) released on the Ajang Music Production Label, Nikki Burt is on her way.
Nikki has worked with entertainers, i.e., Nadine Sutherland, Everton Blender, Dorothy Moore, Black Uhuru, Jean Chandler, Mikey Spice, Bushman and Buju Banton. Back in the studios she is recording for Ajang Production and Penthouse Records. With the capacity to sing well, Nikki is striving to broaden the definition of reggae music for the 20's. Hers is a fresh voice, a fresh vision, shaped as much by her reggae forerunners, and international artists who continue to inspire her realization for good music. Her latest single (2003) cover tune ' Love Me Always' with Assasin for Penthouse Records is getting steady airplay locally and internationally. Nikki is expected to release her debut album in 2004 on the Penthouse label. -
