   A native of Indiana, John T. Burt, Jr. received his Bachelor's degree in Finance from Indiana University and achieved career success (including sponsorship to pursue an MBA) and promotions within the finance component of Eli Lilly. Burt earned an MBA from The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, where he served as an executive fellow of the Dean's office and simultaneously, as consultant to a small business in the Durham community. He co-authored a published article on an effective career search and interview skills, and won a national competition (Executive Leadership Council, "ELC") for his commentary on leadership.
   
   After graduation, Burt joined Booz Allen Hamilton, a New York management-consulting firm focused on strategic business concerns. Burt relocated from New York City to Indianapolis working as a consultant at Eli Lilly focused on International Treasury working capital, establishing/implementing a consulting model to improve operational inefficiency and joint venture procedures, and later becoming the CFO of a $2B business unit. In mid-2006, Burt took an interim role as the MBA JumpStart operations lead in addition to existing strategic responsibilities.
   
   Burt currently serves on the Nina Mason Pulliam Legacy Scholars Advisory Board and is an adjunct professor of finance and business planning at Concordia University-Wisconsin. He is a member of the 100 Black Men of America, the National Black MBA Association and NextGen Network, Inc (affiliated with ELC). Burt has served as treasurer and board member for several local nonprofit organizations and as a member of the Board of Advisors of The MBA Company. He has been recognized by the mayor of Indianapolis for his role in mentoring, Duke University as the 2006 Abele Award "Alumni of the Year" recipient, and quoted in the Indiana Business Journal and Minority MBA regarding leadership.
