About Jim Burt
Jim Burt is a Trade Commissioner in the Science and Technology Division of Canada`s Federal Department of International Trade. He is a University of Ottawa business graduate who began his career with the Xerox Corporation, before moving to the Federal Department of Supply and Services to become a procurement specialist working in Canada's capital: Ottawa, and at the Canadian Embassy in Washington D.C. While in Washington, Jim served as First Secretary (Supply), negotiating and administering some of Canada's major purchases from the U.S. Departments' of the Navy and Air Force. When his Washington assignment ended, Jim returned to Ottawa to work closely with Canadian firms to help them increase their export sales to foreign governments and international agencies. In 1999, he became a Trade Commissioner with the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, and then International Trade Canada, where he currently works with other Federal and Provincial Government contacts to foster international Research and Development collaboration in the Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) Sector. -
