   By anyone's standard, Shan Burson has a pretty good job. He listens to the snow fall. That's part of it, anyway. He works for the National Park Service up around Yellowstone. He's with the agency's Natural Sounds Program, and he and his colleagues are trying to figure out how noisy the parks are.

Burson has extensive research experience inventorying human and natural sounds in Denali National Park. He also assisted with soundscape monitoring in many national parks in the Lower 48.
