   Ondrej Buršík, ECM's project manager, says that in 2001 CSL terminated the agreement citing financial reasons. However, he adds that at the time, ECM had an agreement with Živnostenská banka, which promised to finance the project. According to Buršík, the company has already invested about CZK 100 million into the project and is determined to bring it to completion.

   Ondrej Bursik, ECM's manager for the project, said Europort was spurred specifically by a 1999 public tender held by the Czech Airports Authority that called for development of the site, including construction of a hotel.

   More broadly, though, he said, 'Hotels, just like other accompanying services, should be a part of airports, especially in cosmopolitan cities like Prague.'
   
   Bursik said the most critical need at the airport is conference facilities, but a hotel must accompany them.
   
   'The construction of this site will give Prague the opportunity to host a number of meetings and conferences that ECM feels has been lost in Prague because of its absence,' Bursik said. He pointed out that the closest suitable facility now is the Diplomat Hotel, which he estimated is about a 20,minute car ride from the airport.
