   Barbara D. Burrus, minister of visitation and pastoral care, graduated from a three year Methodist hospital School of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio prior to attending Duke University, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Education. Barbara met her future husband, Dr. Charles A. Burrus Jr., currently a research engineer with Bell Laboratoriese, while attending Duke.

   Upon graduation from Princeton, Barbara served churches in Toms River and South River, New Jersey. She was ordained as an Elder in 1988, and retired from full time ministry in 1997. She continues to serve as chairperson of the Conference Health and Welfare Committee and the AIDS Action Team. She also serves on the Boards of the United Methodist Homes of New Jersey and Nine Wall Street, the governing body of Wesleyan Arms, a low-income senior housing facility in Red Bank. She is deeply involved in areas of healing ministry and spiritual direction and continues to work with the Rose Mandela Foundation on Ecumenical Ministry for Spiritual Direction.
