  Richard Burrows received his Master's of Music in Performance Percussion from the University of Toronto and his Honours BMus degree in Performance Percussion with a minor in Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University.Richard has studied and performed with NEXUS, Nebosja Jovan Zivkovic, and Michael Burritt and he has collaborated internationally with artists like Evelyn Glennie and Synergy from Australia.Richard is a passionate educator in the Toronto area.He is also a very active clinician with Ontario music camps.His profession has taken him all over the world, giving masterclasses and performances throughout North America, Europe, Mexico, and Australia.He plays regularly with the Kitchener/Waterloo Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra London and in a duet series through the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.Richard has also worked in opera and musicals performing such classics as West Side Story.
  
  He is an avid chamber musician and is a founding member of the Toronto based percussion quartet, TorQ.TorQ competed in the International Percussion Ensemble Competition in Luxembourg City.Richard also tours as a principle cast member with Scrap Arts Music, a high-energy percussion theater sensation.Richard is proud to endorse Yamaha Canada Music, Innovative Percussion and Mountain Rhythm.

  OPAS member Richard Burrows, a classmate of Jamie's, also performed in some of Jamie's ensemble pieces.

  I was recently in touch with Richard.I thought that you might be interested in some background information and what he is up to this fall.
  
  Graduated in June 2004 with a Masters in Music, Percussion Performance from the University of Toronto.Honours BMus 2002 from Wilfrid Laurier University majoring in Performance with a minor in Psychology.In the summer of '02, Richard participated in the Yamaha Percussion Masterclass with Nebojsa Jovan Zivkovic in Germany.After taking lessons with Zivkovic, he asked Richard to join his International Marimba Ensemble for a tour of Germany.Burrows played solo and chamber works composed by Zivkovic throughout southwest Germany.The tour ended with a concert at Frankfurt International Theatre.
  
  Current projects: Richard is a founding member of TorQ percussion quartet.They will be travelling to Luxembourg in February 2005 for the International Percussion Ensemble Championships.TorQ will be having a concert of their competition repertoire in Janurary 2005 at the University of Toronto. (There will be more details to follow.) Richard will also be performing with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra Education Programme with fellow percussionist Don Kuehn.
