Jacksonville, FL - After more than 30 years in the Duval County School System, James H. Burroughs, Guidance Counselor at Ed White High School, will retire on August 1, 2005. Burroughs is the parent of three successful children with seven grandchildren. Burroughs is a diligent worker in his church. He serves on the Deacon Board, Usher Board #4, Male Usher Board, St. Thomas Health Ministries, District #4 Leader, Male Chorus, Boy Scout Troop #558 and Courtesy Guild. He has been the Director of the St. Thomas Production Department and directed a number of plays for Black History. He attended Edward Waters College, University of Florida and Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA. Burroughs received his Masters Degree in Education from the Historic Black Florida Agriculture and Mechanical University. On June 17, 2005 family and friends celebrated his retirement at the Mary L. Singleton Center in Jacksonville, FL.
