Rev. Burris was a former pastor and the founder of Mercy Temple Baptist Church. He was the founder and director of Youth Illustrates and College Avenue Youth Behavior Academy (CAYBA).
He founded the Youth Industrial Center, which helped young people conquer the pressure of life in the streets while giving them positive reinforcement that allowed them to channel their energies and develop self-esteem.
Rev. Burris also founded Heavenly Made Products, which made altars and church furnishings.
