The request was made by Jim Sholtz, the department's EMS coordinator, for Capt. Wes Tucke and firefighters Mike Pearch, Rick Wigfield, Jim Miceli, Brock Burris and Bert Snyder, whose efforts under difficult conditions saved a traffic accident victim's life on July 4.

"It was a significant spill from the rest area to New Philadelphia," said Brock Burris, a New Philadelphia firefighter.
