"It's blue all the way," emphasized Burris."I think my blood is blue."

Burris started his prep career in Goodpasture blue before concluding his high school career as a Blue Devil…and in the fall, he'll become a Blue Raider.

After finishing tied for fourth in the Class AAA State Golf Tournament in October, Burris, a standout at White House High School, has been named The News Examiner's Co-Golfer of the Year.

"I believe I improved," said Burris."I've gotten better every year since my freshman year.

"My putting's not where it needs to be, but I had a pretty good season and was pleased."

Burris played his first two seasons at Goodpasture Christian School, finishing second in the state each year in the Class A-AA field.

However, Burris was forced to sit out the 2002 high school season after transferring to White House.

"I was looking forward to the season even more since I didn't get to play last year," pointed out Burris."I always wanted to win the state, but I made three good runs at it."

Burris may be most well known in the Midstate area for his success in the Tennessean/Metro Parks Schooldays Golf Tournament.Burris won the prestigious event for the third straight year this past summer.

"Schooldays is a great tournament," noted Burris.

"I don't start playing my best until I'm challenged," noted Burris.
