    Tony Burrier

Burrier joins the Leatherneck staff for his first season as assistant to Kerry Cooks after a one-year stint with the AF2 Quad City Steamwheelers and a four-year career with the University of Iowa.
    ...
Burrier was a four-year letterwinner at linebacker and safety for the Hawkeyes from 1998-2002, capping his career with a Big Ten title and Orange Bowl bid. As a senior, Burrier saw action in all 13 games and was named to the Big Ten All-Academic Team for a second consecutive season. After his playing career, the Iowa City native became the first Iowa City area athlete to play Arena Football, as he spent the 2003 season with the Steamwheelers.

Also in 2003, Burrier began his coaching career as an assistant at his alma mater, Iowa City High School, where he earned all-state honors as a punter and also played defensive end, quarterback and wide receiver. He has also gained experience as a strength and conditioning coach, personal trainer and youth camp counselor. Burrier graduated from Iowa with a bachelor's degree in Health, Leisure and Sports Studies in 2003, and will be working toward a master's degree at Western Illinois.
