   Manager of Office Administration Karen Burrell came to SNPJ in June. Her positive attitude is a definite asset to SNPJ operations. Karen has an extensive background in insurance, most recently as an underwriter with AIG Specialty Automobile Insurance Company and as an operations supervisor with General Accident/CGU Insurance Company where she managed the clerical staff and oversaw daily computer operations.
   
   Karen was educated at Community College of Allegheny County where she majored in liberal arts. She then attended ICM School of Business for computer science. Karen acquired the Property/Casualty Insurance designation in general insurance from the Insurance Institute of America. At SNPJ, Karen will soon begin the LOMA courses to learn more about life insurance and annuities. Annuities are new to me, and i would like to learn more about them, Karen said.
   
   Before working in the insurance industry, Karen managed a bookstore in Pittsburgh. The SNPJ Make a Difference project of collecting books for disadvantaged children holds great interest for her. She hopes to inspire her employees to become more involved with this SNPJ project. I like the idea of feeding the minds of children, she remarked.
   
   When discussing her personal goals, Karen related, The nurturing of individuals to accomplish their personal best gives me great satisfaction... . After working for major corporations, I like the personal approach here at SNPJ..
   
   In her spare time, Karen swims, bikes, tends to her garden and loves to work on crafts. She also likes to travel and collect odd souvenirs from around the country. Her personal causes involve helping the homeless and abused animals.
   
   Karen, her husband Don and son Keith (the youngest of four children) live in Moon Township, a suburb of Pittsburgh. Three other grown children, Don Jr., Kevin and Nicole, all live in the Pittsburgh area with their families.
